Instagram Follower Count

Enter any username to see the exact number of followers, not the rounded 12.5K or 1.2M on their profile. Works on public and private accounts, and nothing shows up on their side.

The number moved? See who they followed

A count tells you how many, not who. Recent Follow by IGExport shows who a public account recently followed, without signing in to Instagram.

How to check someone's Instagram follower count

Type their username into the box above, with or without the @, or paste a link to their profile. You don't need an Instagram account.

Press Check count. You get the exact number of followers, the number of accounts they follow, and the ratio between the two. Check as many accounts as you like, your own included.

Why Instagram shows 12.5K instead of the real number

From 10,000 followers up, a profile shows a shortened number: 12.5K, 340K, 1.2M. That is fine for a glance, but it hides everything below the last digit shown. An account on 1.2M could have 1,150,000 followers or 1,249,999.

The full figure still exists, and this page reads it. If you run a professional account, the Insights section of the app also gives your own exact total. For anyone else's account, an outside checker like this one is the way to see it.

How live is this follower count?

The number comes from the account's public profile, and can lag by a few minutes because each lookup is briefly cached. It is not a ticker that moves second by second. Check again in a few minutes to see a new reading.

Can you see a private account's follower count?

Yes. The follower and following counts are public on every Instagram profile, private ones included, so this page shows them.

What stays hidden is who those followers are. A private account's lists are only visible to followers it has approved, and no website or app gets around that. Sites that promise otherwise end in a survey wall, an app download or a form that asks for your password.

Why did a follower count go down?

The usual reason is that people unfollowed. It can also be Instagram removing spam and inactive accounts, which can take a chunk of followers off a large account in one go, or the owner removing or blocking followers.

On your own account you can find out exactly who left: export your data from Instagram and run it through the Unfollow Checker. For someone else's account, the count only shows that the number changed, not who was behind it.

What the follower ratio tells you

The ratio is followers divided by following. An account with 50,000 followers that follows 500 has a ratio of 100. Creators and brands sit far above 1. Personal accounts usually sit near 1, and an account that follows many more than follow it back sits well below.

It is a rough signal, not a verdict. A low ratio can be a new account or a follow-for-follow habit, and a high ratio says nothing about whether the followers are real.

Can you see follower count history?

Not here. This page shows the count now and keeps no record of past numbers, and Instagram doesn't publish one. Any chart of past counts comes from a service that happened to record that account at the time.

To follow a number over time, check at the same time each day and note it down. To follow what an account does, rather than its total, the Recent Follow app shows who it recently followed and can notify you when that changes.

Frequently asked questions

How do I check someone's follower count on Instagram?

Enter their username in the box above and press Check count. You get the exact number of followers and following, with no Instagram account and no sign-in.

Is this a live follower count?

Close to it. The number comes from their public profile and can lag by a few minutes. It doesn't tick second by second; check again a few minutes later for a new reading.

Why does Instagram round follower counts?

From 10,000 followers, profiles show a short form like 12.5K or 1.2M. This page shows the full number behind it.

Will they know I checked their follower count?

No. Checking a count here doesn't touch your Instagram account, and Instagram doesn't tell anyone that their follower count was looked at.

Can I check a private account's follower count?

Yes. The counts are public on private profiles too. The lists of followers and following are not, and no tool can show them unless the account has approved you.

Can I see who follows them?

On public accounts, yes. The Instagram Follower Viewer lists up to 50 followers of a public account. This page only shows the totals.

Can I see an account's follower count history?

Not here. This page shows the current count only, and Instagram doesn't publish past numbers.

Why did my follower count drop suddenly?

Usually unfollows, or Instagram removing spam and inactive accounts. To see who left your own account, use the Unfollow Checker with your Instagram data export.
