Anonymous IG Story Viewer & Downloader

Stories are just the start. See who they follow next.

If you're checking someone's stories, you probably want to know who they're getting close to. Recent Follow tracks every new account they follow and alerts you the moment it happens — 100% anonymous.

  • Real-time push the moment they follow someone new
  • Anonymous — your name never shows up anywhere
  • Timeline of recent follows, with mutual friends flagged

Why choose this Instagram Story viewer

Genuinely anonymous

Our server fetches the Stories, not your browser. Your Instagram identity is never involved, so there is nothing to add to their "Seen by" list. The account owner sees no viewer, no notification, and no trace.

No login, no password, ever

We never ask for your Instagram credentials — not for anything. Any Story viewer that asks you to log in can see everything in your account, and can be seen by Instagram as you. We don't ask, so there's nothing to hand over.

Your searches stay in your browser

Search history is saved in your own browser's local storage and never reaches our server. There's no public "recent searches" feed for other people to scroll — a feature several popular viewers still ship. Clear it any time with one tap.

Free, with no daily cap

No premium tier, no credits, no survey walls, no fake countdown before the download unlocks. Look up as many public accounts as you like, as often as you like.

What you can do

Stories and Highlights

See every currently live Story from any public account, plus the Highlights saved on their profile.

Full-resolution downloads

Save photos as JPG and videos as MP4 at original quality — no watermark, no re-compression.

Paste a username or a profile link

Type the handle, or paste a full instagram.com profile URL straight from the app's share sheet. Both work.

See who's tagged

When a Story mentions other accounts, those tagged profiles are listed alongside it — useful context the grid alone won't tell you.

Private search history

Recent lookups are kept locally so you can jump back to an account in one tap, and wiped the moment you clear them.

Any device, nothing to install

It runs in the browser on phone, tablet, or desktop. No app, no extension, no sign-up.

How it works

    View anonymously

We fetch their stories — no notification is sent, your name doesn't show up in their viewer list.

  3. 3

    Download to keep

Click the download icon next to any story to save photos (JPG) or videos (MP4) to your device.

Who uses an anonymous Story viewer

Creators and marketers

Watch what competitors and collaborators are posting without showing up in their viewer list and telegraphing your interest.

Journalists and researchers

Review public accounts' Stories for reporting without the subject being alerted that someone is looking.

Parents

Check what a public account your child follows is actually posting, without an account of your own.

Anyone who'd rather not be seen

Sometimes you just don't want your name at the top of someone's viewer list. That's reason enough, and it's the whole point of this tool.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will the user know I viewed their stories?

No — your visit is completely anonymous. Unlike Instagram's native app, this viewer doesn't add your name to the "Seen" list. You can watch any public account's IG stories without them knowing, with no login or account required.

Do I need an Instagram account or login?

No. Just enter the username and our viewer fetches the public stories for you — no sign-up, no password, no Instagram account needed. View IG stories without an account, anytime.

Can I view private accounts?

This free web version only supports public accounts. For a private Instagram story viewer, download Recent Follow by IGExport — we're rolling out a private story viewer feature that lets you watch without leaving a trace.

What can I download? Formats, Highlights, Reels?

All public IG stories — photos (JPG) and videos (MP4) — plus Highlights and Reels. Original quality, no watermark, free download. Click the download icon next to any story to save it.

Is it really free? Any usage limits?

Yes, completely free. No daily limit, no premium tier, no hidden charges. We don't charge for free Instagram story viewer access — bookmark this page and use it whenever you need.

Can I see who viewed my own Instagram story?

Not with this tool — that's the opposite direction. This viewer shows you other people's public Stories. To see your own story viewer list, open your Story in the Instagram app and swipe up: Instagram shows the viewer count and usernames there for 48 hours. No third-party tool can retrieve that list for you, and any site claiming otherwise is guessing or worse.

Is the Instagram story viewer list in order of who looked first?

No. Instagram's viewer list isn't chronological. For Stories under about 50 views it's roughly reverse-chronological, but past that Instagram reorders it by its own engagement signals — how often you interact with each account. So a name at the top means Instagram thinks you two interact a lot, not that they watched first. It's a ranking, not a timeline.

Can I see an account's followers or following list here?

Not on this page — this tool is for Stories and Highlights. Follower and following lists are a different job: IGExport's follower export tool handles public accounts, and Recent Follow by IGExport tracks who an account follows next and alerts you when it happens.

Is it legal to view Instagram stories anonymously?

Viewing content that an account has already made public is not illegal, and it's what this tool does — nothing here bypasses a privacy setting or accesses anything a logged-out visitor couldn't reach. What you do with what you see is a separate question: harassment, stalking, and republishing someone's content without permission are still wrong regardless of how you viewed it.

Can I still see a story after 24 hours?

Only if the account saved it to a Highlight. Stories disappear from Instagram after 24 hours and we don't keep an archive — we read what's live at the moment you search. Highlights, on the other hand, stay on the profile until the owner removes them, so those are visible any time.

How is this different from other anonymous story viewers?

Three things, mostly. We don't ask for a login (several do, which hands over your whole account). We don't publish a "recent searches" feed that lets strangers see what everyone else looked up. And downloads aren't gated behind surveys, countdowns, or a premium tier. The viewing itself is the same commodity capability everywhere — the difference is what a tool asks from you in return.
